Body Wisdom

Journey to Health and Happiness with the Habits of Ayurveda

What is the Body Wisdom Course?

Body Wisdom is a healthy lifestyle program based on the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, modern behavioral science, and group accountability. Body Wisdom isn't a course that you take - it's a course that you do - and you do it with lots of support from me and from your fellow group members because change is easier and more fun when you do it with others.

Before I tell you about this life-changing program, let's talk about who this is really for . . .

Most clients come to me dissatisfied with some aspect of their lives. They’re often in a state of overwhelm. They’re tired of putting themselves last and realize that’s not serving anyone they care for. The majority of the women I work with have autoimmune conditions and many are self-professed “perfectionists.” My most successful members fully commit to their own personal growth and wellbeing. They love learning new things and embrace the process of self study. They understand the value of support, accountability, and investing in themselves.

If this sounds like you, you're in the right place:

  • You're stressed out, overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated.
  • You feel stagnant, "stuck," tired, depleted.
  • You're mentally scattered, suffering from "brain fog."
  • You feel uncomfortable in your body.
  • You're confused about what and how to eat.
  • You're disconnected from your sense of self.

Body Wisdom will give you the tools, inspiration, and unparalleled support on your journey to health and happiness.

By the end of this course you will . . .

  • Wake each day feeling rested and ready
  • Improve your digestion
  • Nourish yourself with food that is appropriate for the season and for your body type
  • Reduce body aches and pains
  • Find joy in moving your body every day
  • Feel good in your body and calm in your mind
  • Enjoy stable, sustainable energy

What's Inside the Body Wisdom Course?

I get it. You want to know what you're getting into.

In 10 modules, Body Wisdom teaches you how to implement healthy habits
from the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, one of the world's oldest holistic health systems.

Module 1: divine digestion

Digestion is of paramount importance to your overall health. Did you know that about 80% of your immune system originates in the gut? So in order for us to be vital and healthy, we have to have a strong digestive system. Ayurveda teaches us that when it comes to digestion, when you eat is every bit as important as what you eat. Eating at the proper times of day determines whether or not the food will be well digested.  In this module, we learn one simple shift that will put us on the path to good (dare we say "divine?") digestion.

module 2: sacred slumber

Deep, restorative sleep is the nectar of your immune function. Lack of adequate sleep can affect judgment, mood, memory, and may increase the risk of serious accidents. Chronic sleep deprivation may lead to health problems including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and even early mortality. In this module, we study how our daily habits affect our sleep patterns and learn how to craft a nourishing bedtime routine that elevates our sleep to the level of the sacred so that we can wake each day feeling refreshed and ready!

Module 3: magical mornings

Does the phrase "magical mornings" sound like a myth to you? Do you wake up feeling groggy, stiff, and resentful? Do your stress levels rise the moment your feet hit the floor? It doesn't have to be that way! In this module we learn how to tap into the unique energy of the early morning hours so that we can start our day feeling grounded and nourished. Imagine what your days would be like if you had the time and space to take care of your physical, mental, and spiritual needs before you do anything else. It's not a myth! It can be done!

module 4: mindful movement

When we think about the benefits of exercise, we usually think of more energy, maintaining a healthy weight, stronger muscles or a healthier heart. But exercise also boosts our brain health by decreasing anxiety, improving focus and concentration, promoting the growth of new brain cells and protecting the brain from the effects of aging. In this module, we learn how to make moving our bodies (aka "exercise") easy, fun, and playful as well as how to customize it for our unique body types and the time of year.

Module 5: powerful plants

How you source your body's energy and what you build your body's tissues out of is of vital importance to your health, digestion, and longevity. In this regard, nothing beats the power of plants. The benefits of a plant-based diet extend way beyond weight loss to helping you live a longer, healthier life. In this module, we learn how to make gradual shifts toward healthier food choices, no matter where we are on the spectrum. It’s simply about eating more high-quality, seasonal, plant-based foods that are appropriate to our body types.

module 6: blissful body

The human body needs more than diet and exercise in order to feel healthy, happy, and whole. From the time we are born through our elderly years, touch plays a primary role in our physical and mental well-being. In this module, we learn ancient Ayurvedic practices that harness the power of touch and teach us to become our own best healers. We learn to attend to our bodies' needs and desires for true self-care, love, and appreciation, and in doing so, we stimulate physical, mental, and emotional regeneration and rejuvenation!

Module 7: soothing silence

There's good reason why we're hearing a lot about meditation these days. Modern science has caught up with what the yogis have known for eons: this habit is well worth the relatively small amount of time it takes to reap benefits like decreased stress levels and improved attention and cognition. But the word "meditation" can be intimidating. In this module, we learn how to get comfortable with the essence of meditation - sitting in silence - and we explore different meditation techniques so that you can find one that works for you!

module 8: elevated eating

In Module 1, we learn the "when" of eating. In Module 5, we learn the "what" of eating. Now it's time to explore the "where" and "how" of eating and cooking. Why? Because all of that affects our digestion, and thus, our overall health and wellness. Ayurveda provides us with guidelines for preparing our bodies and minds to receive and be nourished by our food. These guidelines honor emptiness and fullness, rest and digestion, hunger and satiation, and they attune us to the law of pulsation for maximum energy!

Module 9: sharpened senses

Our sense organs enable us to perceive and navigate the world around us. It's generally accepted that as we age, our sense organs stop working as well as they once did, and the loss of sensory acuity can leave us feeling frustrated and sometimes even isolated. In this module, we learn daily Ayurvedic practices that help us care for our sense organs - eyes, ears, nose, and mouth - so that they will continue to serve us well into the future. With these habits, we hone our sensory acuity so that we live a more aware and connected life.

module 10: ideal integration

Our final module is all about taking the habits that we've learned and putting them together in a way that makes our lives feel more easeful, aligned, and integrated. And it all comes down to mindset. Our orientation to life and our habitual thought patterns are so ingrained that we often don't realize that we can choose to change them if we wish. With the right training, we can choose ease over stress. We can choose to be more connected, more loving, more conscious. We can choose to live a more awakened life.

When you enroll, you'll get:

ten implementation modules

Each module includes multiple microhabits that you can easily learn and assimilate into your daily life for better health and increased happiness. You'll also receive an orientation module that teaches you how to navigate the course.

This course changes lives!
And I'm so confident that it can change yours that I'm willing to back it up with money-back guarantee.

The feedback I get most often about this course is: "This course is life changing!" Women come to Body Wisdom hoping to reduce stress and feel better in their bodies, and they end up getting so much more! Over and over again, I've witnessed course members reclaim their peace of mind, learn to love their bodies, heal relationships with spouses, and gain the confidence to pursue their dreams.

Many of my course members weren't used to investing in themselves in this way. For some, the course tuition was a stretch for their budget. Others just weren't sure it was a good fit for them. If either is the case for you, let me put your mind at rest with this guarantee. Join us for the first three modules. Watch the lessons; complete the worksheets; send me specific feedback. In other words, show me that you've done the work. I want you to give yourself the chance to experience the energy, focus, and growth my members revel in. Then, if you don't get the traction I would expect,  I'll refund your payment.

I'M READY!

I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I get it. Almost everyone who comes to Body Wisdom feels like she's already short on time. The good news is that once you're in the course, you learn how to make more time for yourself. For now, I'll assure you that the learning modules I've created are designed with you mind. All of the videos are under 15 minutes in length. Workbooks and worksheets are clear, concise, and to-the-point.

Your "homework" will add up to about an hour a week, which you can divide into short segments that suit your schedule. The habits you'll learn vary in length: some take only a few seconds; others can take as long as 20 minutes, BUT there's always a "mini" version that you can use when you don't have time for the full experience. Monthly meetings last about an hour.

So, all in all, if you can carve out an hour for yourself each week, this course is totally doable. Yes, you might have to stream one or two less episodes of your favorite shows each week, but it's totally worth the trade-off.

Course content is delivered in the online course hub. When you enroll, you'll be given access to the hub where all of the videos and workbooks are neatly organized so that you can find what you need easily. Once we kickoff, you'll get access to one module per week for the first ten weeks so that you have ample time to dive into the lessons and experiment with that week's habit before moving on to the next. We do this to protect your time, attention, and focus while sparing you from any overwhelm that might stand in the way of your progress. After the first ten weeks, you'll have access to all the modules all the time - FOREVER (or as long as the Body Wisdom course exists).

No. Body Wisdom is a healthy lifestyle program. We won't be counting calories. Nevertheless, it's not unusual for members who are carrying a little extra weight to lose as much as 10-15 pounds just by implementing the very first habit we learn in Module 1.

No. Unless you count groceries as hidden costs. The habits that we learn in Body Wisdom can be done with things you already have at home. That being said, you might find from time to time that you want to try an herb or oil or tool that you don't have or isn't readily available in your local store. If that's the case, you can often purchase those from me for less than you would pay online.

Great question! When you enroll in the Body Wisdom course, you'll be eligible for discounts on private consultations, including a full Ayurvedic workup with dosha assessments, an in-depth look at your health concerns and daily habits, and recommendations tailored specifically to your needs and desires.

Still not sure?

I understand. I really do. Several years ago, I was exactly where you are. I was stuck in the patterns that many of us find ourselves in these days. We want to look better, feel better, be better. And we want to get there in the fastest way possible. So in typical American style, we buy things. We consume. Whether it’s the latest age-defying beauty product or the cool new fitness gadget on the infomercial we got sucked into watching or the "magic pill" that will help us lose weight without dieting or exercise - we spend money on things rather than investing in knowledge and support. When I think of all the gadgets and supplements I’ve bought over the last 20 years (not to mention make up, hair color, tanning, manicures and pedicures), I realize that had I saved that money, I could have started this journey a little sooner, and been much better off, perhaps even avoiding the adrenal fatigue that set off my autoimmune disease.

Not much I can do about that now. The point is that I’ve seen the light. Spending doesn’t work for me anymore. Now I invest. I invest in me, in my future, in learning how to look and (more importantly) feel my best naturally.

But money isn’t the only thing we have to invest. With any endeavor of personal growth, there is an investment of time, and usually that is the more difficult investment to make. Many of us aren't used to putting ourselves first, even when we know we need to if we're going to be of any good to anyone else. As a yoga teacher, people often say to me, “I just can’t seem to find the time to come do yoga.” And my response is always, “It is difficult to find the time. It’s not as difficult to make the time. Carve it out. Make whatever arrangements you need to make. Put it on your schedule and make it non-negotiable.” The same is true for investing time in personal development. There’s never a “perfect” time where the stars align, time and space open up, and you have all the time in the world to do the things you want and need to do. It just doesn’t happen. Take it from me. I had this idea that once my kids were grown and out of the house that all of that would happen. But guess what. Other things fall into those spaces of time and we can end up feeling even busier than we were when “Mom’s Taxi” was in service.

There’s another time scenario more akin to “spending” money. In the unusual circumstance where you do happen to have the time to pursue personal development, we sometimes find ourselves “wasting” time doing things that don’t benefit us. Exhausted from work, we come home, eat too much of the wrong stuff, collapse on the couch and binge-watch Netflix. We wake up tired, grumpy, achy, and maybe a little angry that we did this to ourselves. All of that carries over into our day, perhaps affecting the people we live and work with, which makes us feel even worse.

If any of this sounds familiar, if you’re thinking it might be time to start investing instead of spending or wasting, if you’re ready to make some changes in your lifestyle that benefit your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness, THIS IS YOUR TIME! Don't waste another second of it.

I cannot wait to witness
your growth!

I’m Angela - an Ayurvedic Health Counselor, group health coach, yoga teacher, yoga teacher trainer, and small business owner. Over the past 52 years, I’ve been a lot of things: a student, an actress, a waitress, a struggling young mom, a yogi, a legal assistant, an online English teacher, a business administrator, and a runner (not a particularly fast one). But nothing has been more fulfilling than the group health coaching work I’ve been doing since January 2018.

I’ve been practicing yoga since 1996 - but that doesn’t mean I was taking care of myself. Like many people, I was living life in a state of overwhelm. I was raising kids, working 40+ hours a week behind a desk, and living for a weekend that consisted mostly of housework. I “needed” coffee to start my day, and my idea (and practice) of unwinding was drinking a glass of wine (or two) every evening.

But something changed in my mid-40s. After a couple of months of weight gain and zero energy, I found out I was in perimenopause AND I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease that causes decreased thyroid function. I got really curious about why that was happening and what I could do to improve my health in a natural and holistic way. My research led me to Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science.

Slowly but surely, I started replacing my coping substances (coffee and wine) with real self-care practices. My weight returned to normal, as did my energy levels, and I started asking myself some really big questions about what I wanted the rest of my life to look like.

The answer to those questions was this: I wanted to become a source of reliable wellness information as well as a host for health-oriented people to come together in the spirit of growth and support.

In 2017, I enrolled in a 15-month course geared toward teaching me to lead a group health coaching program based on the habits of Ayurveda. I launched my group, “Body Wisdom” in January 2018 with a group of 14 amazing women, and we’ve been growing ever since.

Not long after, I decided I wanted to dive deeper into the ancient teachings of Ayurveda, so I enrolled in a 600-hour Ayurvedic Health Counselor training program that I completed in the spring of 2021. As an Ayurvedic Health Counselor, my focus is on understanding the unique individual as a whole, rather than on isolating a particular symptom or disease. When working with clients, I take into account the mind, body and spirit, and from there offer simple changes in diet and lifestyle to bring about profound and lasting results.

After successfully working within my local community for the last four years, I’m excited to offer my services to a bigger, broader membership, and I can't wait to welcome you into it!
